Yamuna City Is Emerging as an Education Hub with Seven Universities in the Pipeline
Several Universities Already Operating in Sector 17
Sector 17 is not new to higher education. Galgotias University, Noida International University and NIMS Medical College are already operating in the area.
With more universities now coming up in the neighbouring sectors, the education infrastructure of Yamuna City is expected to expand considerably in the coming years.
JBM University Construction Underway in Sector 22E
One of the major projects currently under construction is JBM University in Sector 22E. Work on the campus is progressing, and the university is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
The upcoming campus is likely to add another major higher education option for students in Yamuna City and nearby areas.
NMIMS Starts Construction on 35-Acre Campus
Sector 22E has also attracted NMIMS, one of the well-known higher education institutions in India.
The institute has started construction after getting its building plan approved for a 35-acre campus. This is particularly significant because the Yamuna City campus will be NMIMS’s first campus outside Maharashtra.
The arrival of such institutions is expected to increase the profile of Yamuna City as an education destination.
GL Bajaj University Coming Up in Sector 17A
Construction work is also underway for GL Bajaj University in Sector 17A.
Along with JBM University and the NMIMS campus, the project is part of YEIDA’s larger plan to bring more higher education institutions to Yamuna City.
Land Allotment for More Universities in Progress
The development is not limited to the universities that have already started construction. YEIDA is also working on land allotments for several other institutions.
These include:
- Amity University
- Lloyd
- Babu Banarasi Das University
- Mahatma Gandhi University
The authority is expected to hand over land to these institutions once the allotment process is completed.
YEIDA Wants More Universities in Yamuna City
YEIDA CEO R.K. Singh has said that starting universities in the city is one of the authority’s priorities this year. The authority is also looking to bring more reputed institutions from India and abroad to YEIDA Yamuna City education hub.
The idea is to develop an education ecosystem rather than have individual campuses operating in isolation. With more universities, the area could also see growth in related facilities such as student accommodation, shops, healthcare services, transport and other businesses.
What This Could Mean for YEIDA Yamuna City education hub
The expansion of the education sector could become an important part of Yamuna City’s overall development.
The city is already seeing growth because of major projects and infrastructure planned around the Yamuna Expressway. The development of universities adds another dimension to this growth by bringing students, teachers, employees and supporting businesses into the area.
If the planned projects are completed as scheduled, Sector 17A and Sector 22E could become some of the key education zones of Yamuna City.
For YEIDA, attracting universities is also part of the larger effort to establish Yamuna City as a well-developed urban center with education, employment and other supporting infrastructure.
With seven universities planned and construction already underway at several sites, the coming years could bring a noticeable change to the education landscape of Yamuna City(yamuna expressway).
